Nyctophobia

I am afraid of being in the dark.

To me it’s much worse than being next to a shark.

The dark is a world of the unknown,

That send chills deep down to the bone.

It creeps up on me all day long,

And scares me when I think I am strong.

I’ve been afraid of the dark ever since I was young.

I would lie in bed at night biting my tongue,

Wondering who was lurking behind the door.

The dark is something Ive tried to ignore.

Constantly telling myself there is nothing there,

Until I hear a “pat pat”,

I cant help but lay in bed and stare.
